Are you thinking about moving to the beach? You definitely should. Considering a condominium? It's a great idea. Condominium living offers freedom from the chore of maintaining a yard and the exterior of your home, and there's a sense of community that comes with sharing the common areas with your neighbors.
Gulf Shores, Alabama has a wide variety of condominiums to choose from, whether you're looking for something right on the beach, or a little further inland. Lakewood Townhomes and Lakewood Villas are located in heart of Gulf Shores, within walking distance of the Thomas B. Norton Public Library and the David L. Bodenhamer Recreation Center, as well as shopping, dining, and the city dog park. The complex is a short, five minute drive from the sugar white sand and sparkling water of the Gulf of Mexico.
Construction began on Lakewood Villas in 1984, followed by Lakewood Townhomes in 1992. The buildings are all two-story, with three to six units in each building. They are all wood frame on a concrete slab construction, with composite shingle roofs. All units feature a balcony, and some have a fireplace. The complexes intersect, forming one neighborhood, with buildings bordering the lake in Lakewood Townhomes. Both complexes are professionally landscaped and well maintained. The pool is gigantic, and the clubhouse is extra-nice and available for use by the residents.
The best part about Lakewood Villas and Lakewood Townhomes is the price. Most units are less than $150,000, and the HOA dues are low, making it a perfect retirement home or second-home getaway. They also have a rent restriction of "no less than a twelve month lease" in place, making vacation rentals impossible. This isn't the case with most condominiums.
Lakewood Villas and Lakewood Townhomes are hidden treasures. Now that you've found them, what's stopping you? Units are available now. Remember, you can live here, too!
