Let me guess - you thought a mullet was a really bad haircut from the 80s, right? While that may be true, here in south Alabama a mullet is a fish. It's delicious if you fry it the day you catch it, not so much if you wait a couple days. But that's a story for another blog. Today, we're talking about throwing mullet at what's become the Gulf Coast's biggest beach party.
FloraBama is located on the Alabama - Florida state line, on the sugar-white sand of the Gulf of Mexico. Every year, thousands of people come to soak up the sun, enjoy the water, and throw a fish across the line. The fun starts today at noon, and goes on all day tomorrow and Sunday (April 22 - 24). The best part of all? A contribution for every fish flung will go to Local Youth Charities, including local school education, mental health issues, and violence both in the home and on our streets.
So, come to the beach this weekend, and while you're here, toss a mullet! You'll never forget it. And remember, you can live here, too!
