1/17/2016 Sunny and 70

January is a gloomy month.  The holidays are over, the weather is cold and wet, and everthing is brown, gray,  and frozen.  Is that the view from your window?  If it is, I'm so sorry.  What are you doing there? Come to Alabama's Gulf Coast, where today, January 16th, it was sunny, with a high of 70.

So many things make the Gulf Coast of Alabama a great place to live, but one of the best, in my opinion, is the weather.  Today was perfect, sort-of like yesterday, and the day before...  You get the picture.  We have a few days here and there that don't make it to 70, but the "cold spells" never last more than a few days.  And by "cold spell", I mean highs in the 50s.  Our ground never freezes, so even though the grass may not be bright green this month, other flowers, plants, and trees more than make up for it.  And the beach, of course, is beautiful year round.

And that after-the-holiday let-down that January always has?  When we took down the Christmas lights, we put Mardi Gras lights in their place.  My sister-in-law has a Mardi Gras tree.  There are wreaths and mailbox decorations and giant blow up things for the yard.  Just like Christmas, except purple, gold, and green instead of red and green. See?  No "after the holiday" here.

So, y'all come!  Make your January sunny and 70, too.
